GEOVERONA
Our city, Verona, has very ancient origins. We wanted to retrace its history, noting some characteristics of the different periods. Fascinated we decided to tackle some of the main historical milestones; so we ventured through the streets of Verona.
With the end of the Roman Empire, Verona found himself on the road to barbarian invasions. Only with rebirth that took place around the year one thousand, Verona experienced a new development that would have led it, in a time span of two centuries, to become one of the most important centres of northern Italy, passing from rich and influential Municipality, to powerful and prestigious lordship with the Scaligeri.
The infrastructural facilities that Verona had inherited from the Habsburg domination, made the city an important logistic centre, with the military bakery of Santa Marta, the military hospital, the old Austrian arsenal, two railway stations and an air base for airships and airplanes. Because of this Verona found itself performing an important role during the First World War.
The XX century is a fundamental moment in world history, many inventions and discoveries have in fact contributed to progress and technological and scientific evolution. This is also the century of the two World Wars. This air of novelty was also breathed in the city of Verona, which was able to continue the process of industrialization already begun in the previous century.
